Assertions of Authority

This is an encaustic diptych on yellow cedar panels. Both the photograph of a figure gathering tundra cranberries with Ibyuk Pingo in the background and the laser-cut Inuvialuit qajat forms are continuous across the two panels, forming a single image. Gathering cranberries was an experience of the land closely focusing on tiny detail in a place with massive forms and distant horizons.
